Far Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What Is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, and about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be prepared to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops throughout the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county (urban or rural), you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2‑30 hours per week. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
