Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Emergency Management Specialist – Manhattan.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordination, planning, operations, and development of highly responsible administrative work in the field of Emergency Management. This position carries out the duties of the department including developing plans, facilitating trainings, conducting exercises, and responding to emergencies. It will also manage projects and be accountable for other assigned duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Participates in the development and implementation of emergency management goals, objectives and priorities.
Assists the Director in developing and implementing a medical center‑wide plan development, training and exercise strategy.
Assists the Director in developing and updating the Emergency Operations Plan and its components.
Develops plan components including plan annexes, standard operating procedures, job action sheets and operational guides.
Develops and conducts training sessions for staff on matters related to emergency management at NYULMC; provides information and training and evaluates training.
Plans, implements and evaluates exercises at NYULMC; coordinates with the exercise team in planning and participation.
Collaborates with the Director in monitoring completion of deliverables of ASPR grants through NYC DOHMH; identifies opportunities for improving processes and procedures; reviews application for completion.
Assists the Director in pursuing additional grants for emergency management related projects; represents the Director at internal and external meetings as needed.
Acts as alternate liaison to external agencies such as NYCDOHMH, NYC OEM, NYS DOH and GNYHA.
Assumes designated Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) role during emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in health or a related field (healthcare administration, emergency management, occupational health and safety, or another appropriate discipline) or the equivalent combination of work experience.
Minimum of 3 years of professional‑level emergency management or related experience in fields such as emergency management, public health, hospital administration, emergency services, or teaching.
Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills.
Project management experience.
Ability to interact with personnel at various levels.
Ability to work under tight and changing deadlines.
Training experience.
Ability to understand and interpret data.
Computer literacy (MS Office).
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in healthcare administration, emergency management, occupational health and safety, or another appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience in emergency plan, training, and exercise development.
Experience in emergency response.
Familiarity with Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and other regulatory agencies’ requirements.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state law on salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,399.99 to $84,800.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
