Massachusetts Institute of Technology Posting Description LEADERSHIP GIVING OFFICER , Biological Engineering (BE), will create and execute a comprehensive, strategic development plan designed to raise awareness, strengthen relationships, and garner financial support for BE's initiatives and academic programs. Responsibilities include managing, building, and executing successful fundraising strategies for a mature portfolio, including Core Team, with individualized solicitation plans leading to major and principal gifts supporting MIT's priorities. The role involves increasing BE's visibility, establishing a community of supporters, including philanthropic and industry partners, and engaging in face-to-face donor visits, faculty meetings, site tours, and events. The officer will draft proposals, create materials, and help maximize faculty travel for engagement with prospects. Find a Full Job Description Here. Job Requirements REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering or scientific field; minimum of three years of direct fundraising experience, preferably in higher education. Exceptional organizational, project management, communication, and time management skills. Strong interest in the BE mission, active learner, and effective communicator. Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging with faculty, alumni, colleagues, and industry partners. Robust writing skills for producing high-quality materials. Knowledge of professional options and career strategies in engineering or related fields. Experience presenting to large groups. Proficiency with Office software and prospect management systems or CRM systems. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. PREFERRED:
Experience with research university culture and administration; proven success in soliciting 6-figure+ gifts; entrepreneurial approach to developing a prospect pool.
