JOB OVERVIEW
The Aquatics Manager is responsible for the year‑round leadership and operational oversight of the Boar’s Head Sports Club aquatics facilities. This includes recruiting and managing seasonal staff, preparing the facility for summer operations, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and ensuring a high‑quality experience for members and guests.
During the summer season, the Aquatics Manager may perform Lifeguard and Aquatics Service Agent duties as needed and will assist the Resort Aquatics Technician with pool maintenance, including filling, vacuuming, and chemical management. They will also lead lifeguard certification classes on select weekends throughout the year.
In the offseason (September–April), the Aquatics Manager oversees the closure of family pools, manages the USA Swimming year‑round swim team and instructional staff, and ensures smooth operation of the competition pool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor at Boar’s Head Sports Club aquatics center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with the Director of Sports Club Operations & Events through weekly meetings to coordinate scheduling, training, team‑building, and seasonal planning.
Prepare the aquatics facility for summer operations, including:
Cleaning and arranging pool furniture (umbrellas, chairs, tables, etc.)
Maintaining cleanliness of guard rooms, check‑in office and storage areas
Ensuring all seasonal preparations are completed on schedule
Recruit, hire and lead a seasonal team of approximately 90 staff members, including lifeguards, Aquatics Service Agents, Aquatics Supervisors, swim coaches, and private lesson instructors.
Serve as the primary liaison between Boar’s Head Sports Club and coaching staff from the Jefferson Swim League and USA Swimming.
Conduct in‑service training sessions for lifeguard staff.
Assist with pool maintenance tasks and coordinate with the Engineering team on chemical and mechanical issues.
Monitor pool systems in the absence of the Resort Aquatics Technician and report any maintenance needs.
Responsible for purchasing and processing invoices for aquatics supplies.
Supervise daily pool operations and staff performance.
Lead by example, providing guidance and mentorship to lifeguards and Aquatics Service Agents.
Support special events at the aquatics center, including swim meets and pool parties.
Ensure completion of all daily and rotational tasks, including:
Maintaining cleanliness of pool areas, furniture, and surrounding spaces
Ensuring towel availability and guest service readiness
Foster strong working relationships with other departments, particularly Engineering and Food & Beverage.
Contribute to the overall success of the resort by performing additional duties as assigned.
Uphold and model the Sports and Wellness CORE Service Expectations at all times.
REQUIREMENTS Required Skills Certifications
Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Experience
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in aquatics or recreation management
Experience managing seasonal staff and coordinating large‑scale operations
Familiarity with pool maintenance and chemical systems
Availability
Must be available to work weekends, holidays and flexible hours during peak seasons
Occasional evening hours required for special events and training sessions
Preferred Skills
Strong leadership and team‑building abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in scheduling, staffing, and conflict resolution
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Knowledge of USA Swimming and Jefferson Swim League operations
