Police Officer Lateral Transfer

The Cleveland Heights Police Department will be accepting applications for
lateral transfer.
Applications must be completed on the City of Cleveland Heights website at

The lateral transfer process will include an oral interview, thorough background investigation, voice stress analysis, psychological evaluation, medical evaluation to include drug screen and any other method necessary to ascertain the qualifications and abilities of the applicant. There will not be a written or physical agility test.
If you cannot meet all the minimum qualifications below, do not submit an application.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 40 years of age at the time of applying
Must be a US or naturalized citizen
Possess valid and current OPOTA certification
Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record
At least one year as full-time civil service police officer with no more than one year of separation of employment
Must pass the Ohio Police and Fire Pension medical examination
Comprehensive Benefits
Signing Bonus of $3,000.
Salary based on experience ranging between $76,560.73–$86,864.55. Candidates with two years of experience will start at the top rate.
Educational bonus of $2,000 for bachelor’s degree and $1,000 for Associate degree
$20,000 educational tuition reimbursement
Annual clothing allowance bonus of $1400
Annual firearms proficiency bonus of over $2000
Compensatory time with annual payout
Annual sick time bonus
$10,000 life insurance policy
Opportunity for specialized units including EDGE Swat, Bomb Squad, Mobile Field Force, Community Response Team, K-9, Accident Investigative Unit, Detective Bureau, Narcotic Unit, Federal Task Officer, Police Academy Instructor
