Job Summary
The Entry-Level Tool & Die Maker will assist in building dies, metal tools, and fixtures for a metal stamping manufacturing environment. This role includes interpreting schematics, shaping and assembling die components, and performing test runs to ensure tooling meets precise specifications. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and motivated to grow their machining and fabrication skills.
Responsibilities Build draw, transfer, and progressive dies for metal stamping applications.
Set up and operate drills, lathes, grinders, milling machines, and other equipment.
Build welding, inspection, and assembly fixtures based on design requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and complex technical drawings.
Assist with die maintenance and tooling repairs.
Perform test runs to ensure tooling performs properly and meets print specifications.
Analyze 3D designs and models for manufacturability.
Visualize and compute metal shapes, tolerances, and dimensions.
Design jigs and templates to aid fabrication processes.
Measure, mark, cut, and shape metal stock to required dimensions.
File, grind, fit, and assemble die components to achieve smooth finishes and correct tolerances.
Inspect completed tools and dies for defects or irregularities.
Support press setup and other tooling needs as required.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required.
Basic understanding of machining and metalworking processes.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
