FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to perform the inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
Report the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Determine occupancy and report general property conditions based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods driving while making multiple stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume; you can earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on county and density, you may complete 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
