As our Certified Peer Support Specialist on our Durham County team, you will provide individualized, strengths‑focused, community‑based interactions with an assigned caseload to promote the development of wellness self‑management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, self‑advocacy skills, and independent living skills for housing, employment, and full community inclusion.

If you are interested but not yet certified, we offer a Peer Support Scholarship Program to assist you in obtaining certification upon hire and cover the cost. Mileage reimbursement is also provided.

Base pay range $18.00/hr – $18.00/hr

Schedule Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Flexible, based on you and your client's needs.

Benefits Full‑time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month, 30 days after hire date. Options include a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. You receive 10 paid holidays and PTO hours that accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After six months, employees can enroll in our 401(k) plan with a 4% match. Company‑paid life insurance, short and long‑term disability, in‑house and paid training opportunities, additional pay for working holidays, and mileage reimbursement are also provided.

Job Responsibilities

Promote independent living skills through modeling, feedback, and support for individuals around housing needs.

Assist clients with self‑determination and decision‑making.

Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness.

Teach and promote self‑advocacy and wellness management.

Provide linkage to community resources.

Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, WRAP, service notes, service authorization requests).

Qualifications

Current Peer Support Certification (we can help you obtain upon hire).

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of one year of experience working with the adult mental health/substance use population, preferably in a community setting.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent changes in workflow based on client needs and service structure.
