Overview
We are seeking a driven
Level 2 PGA Assistant
Golf Professional who is committed to continuing their professional development within a high-level, hospitality focused golf operation. This role is designed for an Assistant who is ready to take on increased responsibility, refine leadership skills, and gain advanced experience across all facets of the golf operations while working closely with a seasoned professional staff.
The position is seasonal from May 1st - October 1st.
As one of the oldest and most respected private clubs in America, Denver Country Club offers a comprehensive internship experience designed to help aspiring golf professionals develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for a successful career in the golf industry. Founded in 1887, the Denver Country Club is the oldest club west of the Mississippi and has been in Cherry Creek since 1901. The golf course has been shaped by renowned architects including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Bill Coore, and Gil Hanse. The Club has hosted prestigious events such as the Trans-Mississippi Amateur, PGA Tour events, and USGA Qualifiers. Beyond golf, members enjoy tennis, swimming, ice skating, and both casual and formal dining. With over 800 members—600 of whom have golf privileges—the Club averages 24,000 rounds annually. The strong caddie program includes more than 30 caddies, many of whom have earned Evans Scholarships.
Experience Required
PGA Assistant – Level 2
in good standing
Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a private club
Working knowledge of
Golf Genius
(golf shop and tournament use)
Experience with
Tag Marshal
pace‑of‑play software
Familiarity with
NorthStar POS
preferred
Strong communication skills, professionalism, and passion for service and teaching
Essential Responsibilities Daily Golf Operations
Open and close the Golf Shop while maintaining a polished, hospitality‑driven environment
Actively supervise the outside service operation through visible, hands‑on leadership, including:
Proper staging of member golf bags
Ensuring golf carts and push carts are clean, organized, and ready for play
Daily practice tee setup
Positioning and supporting golf services staff at key member touchpoints
Support the Golf Professionals and Starters with pace of play and course enjoyment using Tag Marshal pace‑of‑play software
Player Development & Instruction
Assist the Director of Player Development with junior programs and Operation 36 classes
Perform club fittings for members
Golf Shop & Merchandising
Support the Head Professional, Merchandiser, and the Golf Staff with receiving, tagging, pricing, and merchandising hard goods
Assist with demo days throughout the season
Assist with receiving and billing of special‑order hard goods
Tournament Operations
Play an integral role in the preparation and execution of approximately 30 tournaments annually
Utilize and help oversee Golf Genius tournament software, including mentoring interns in its use
Demo & Rental Club Management
Oversee proper demo and rental club check‑in/check‑out procedures
Conduct and manage bi‑weekly inventories of demo and rental club sets
Golf Services Leadership
Lead by example while coaching, mentoring, and training golf services staff to ensure consistent service standards and operational excellence
Professional Development & Mentorship This position is structured to support a
PGA Assistant
as they progress toward PGA Membership. You will receive meaningful responsibility and ongoing mentorship while gaining advanced experience in:
High‑end member service and relationship building
Golf shop leadership and operational management
Instruction and player development
Tournament planning, preparation, and execution
Merchandising strategies and inventory management
Demo and rental club oversight
