Opportunity
Early Career Sales Representative – Siouxland, WestRock Company.
The ECSR will develop new business and manage and grow assigned customer accounts primarily within the small to medium business segment. The role aims for success in inside sales to secure an outside sales position within 12‑14 months. The ECSR works with corporate and plant management to coordinate orders, secure new business, resolve account issues, and expand the customer base by engaging new prospects and previous customers.
Core Responsibilities
Develop a deep rapport with customers to understand their business challenges and build relationships with key decision makers.
Communicate remotely via teleconference, phone, and email, following Smurfit Westrock’s Sales Excellence methodology to gauge interest, identify growth opportunities, and close new business.
Manage full book of assigned accounts across multiple business units, including cross‑selling, up‑selling, and margin improvement.
Conduct complex issue resolution involving pricing, delivery, quality, warehousing, logistics, new product design, and margin improvement.
Collaborate with Business Unit and Plant sales teams to maintain relationships and coordinate overlapping responsibilities.
Meet or exceed volume and margin targets, including cross‑sell and up‑sell goals, to achieve individual and team metrics.
Generate ideas and proactively work with Inside Sales Manager/Director and regional plants to ensure positive customer experiences.
Coach junior team members and support continuous improvement of sales processes.
Required Qualifications
1–3 years of B2B inside sales, field sales, or related experience strongly preferred.
Experience in the fiber‑based packaging industry strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to manage a full book of assigned accounts, develop and qualify opportunities, present solutions, overcome objections, negotiate, and close business over the phone or videoconference.
Track record of top performance among ECSR team.
Strong phone presence, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to make dozens of calls per day.
Proficiency with Salesforce.com or similar CRM and Microsoft Office applications.
Home office or workspace free of disruptions.
