Job Summary
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary floor surfaces throughout the long‑term care facility. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention, resident safety, and overall facility appearance by properly cleaning, stripping, waxing, and maintaining all types of flooring in resident care areas and common spaces.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clean, maintain, strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors including vinyl, tile, and other hard surfaces
Operate floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and wet/dry vacuums
Perform scheduled floor refinishing projects with minimal disruption to residents
Maintain floors in compliance with health, safety, and infection control standards
Spot clean spills and respond promptly to slip or trip hazards
Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer and facility guidelines
Maintain equipment in good working order; report repairs as needed
Follow all OSHA, CDC, and facility safety protocols
Work respectfully around residents, visitors, and staff
Complete documentation or logs as required
Assist Environmental Services as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous floor care experience required (healthcare or long‑term care preferred)
Knowledge of floor finishes, stripping, waxing, and burnishing techniques
Ability to operate floor care machinery safely
Understanding of infection control practices
Ability to work independently and follow schedules
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Preferred Skills
Experience in long‑term care, hospital, or healthcare settings
Knowledge of infection prevention standards
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Reliability and consistent attendance
