Job Description The Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for utilizing research skills and working with tax software applications to prepare simple tax returns. In this role, the Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing will gather client information for appropriate tax filings, prepare tax accrual work papers, participate in the tax planning process and recognize and communicate potential risks.
Responsibilities
Transfer Pricing Studies:
Conduct transfer pricing studies involving the planning, documentation, audit defense and compliance stages
Scope, design, and conduct financial analysis of intercompany transactions, including industry and client financial data benchmarking
Complete supplemental financial analysis such as market penetration scenarios, intangible property valuation, loan analysis, guarantees, insurance transactions
Plan, schedule, and execute transfer pricing analyses under direction of STS Senior Director or Manager
Manage deadlines and data due dates for assigned projects
Use standard databases (Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10-K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis) to gather company information
Prepare compliance reports of intercompany prices and present consulting advice to clients
Participate in scoping calls for proposals and draft proposals and engagement letters under direction of STS leaders
Prepare client presentations summarizing analyses and recommendations
Conduct client interviews to understand intercompany transaction factors such as corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, value drivers, competitive pressure, historical context, and industry information
Review benchmarking work completed by STS Transfer Pricing Associates
Tax Controversy:
Apply knowledge of audit, competent authority and APA processes, statutory deadlines and requirements
Prepare IDR responses on behalf of clients and collaborate on audit arguments when needed
Tax Provision and FIN 48:
Apply transfer pricing in the context of tax provisions and ASC 740‑10
Draft memos for transfer pricing ASC 740‑10 analysis
Collaborate with Core Tax and STS Groups
Develop deep understanding of technical and practical taxation issues and opportunities
Maintain visibility in local offices and region, networking with core tax and assurance managers
Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise day‑to‑day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Associates and Interns, review work product
Ensure Associates and Interns receive training on all relevant tax software
Provide clarification and guidance on complex concepts to colleagues and clients
Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete evaluations for Associates and Interns
Act as mentor to Associates and Interns
Monitor budgets and billings to manage project profitability
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or other relevant field (required)
Advanced degree (preferred)

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and research skills
Solid organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines with a focus on detail
Ability to multi‑task independently or in a group environment
Capability to work in a deadline‑driven environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously
Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel
Ability to interact with professionals at all levels
Intermediate understanding of technical and practical taxation issues and opportunities
Intermediate knowledge of general calculations and causes/effects for taxable conditions
Experience across various industries
Experience
More than 2 years of prior work experience (required)
Experience within a transfer pricing practice (required)
Prior supervisory experience (preferred)
Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective (preferred)
Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Prior exposure to S&P Compustat, Moody’s RiskCalc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, and other financial database products (preferred)
Compensation
National Range: $73,500 - $131,250
Maryland Range: $73,500 - $131,250
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $73,500 - $131,250
Washington DC Range: $73,500 - $131,250
