Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing

Job Description The Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for utilizing research skills and working with tax software applications to prepare simple tax returns.

In this role, the Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing will be charged with gathering client information for appropriate tax filings and preparing tax accrual work papers, participating in the tax planning process and recognizing and communicating potential risks.

Job Duties

Transfer Pricing Studies: Conduct transfer pricing studies involving the planning, documentation, audit defense and compliance stages.

Scope, design, and conduct the financial analysis related to intercompany transactions, including evaluation of industry and client financial data to benchmark or document appropriate intercompany pricing policies.

Complete supplemental financial analysis involving market penetration scenarios, calculation of intangible property value, and financial transaction analysis (e.g., loan analysis, guarantees, insurance transactions).

Plan, schedule, and execute transfer pricing analyses under the direction of the STS Senior Director or STS Manager.

Manage deadlines and data due dates for assigned projects.

Utilize standard databases (Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10‑K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis, etc.) to gather company information.

Prepare project reports documenting compliance with foreign and domestic tax regulations and present consulting advice summarizing research, quantitative analysis, and results.

Participate in scoping calls related to proposals and prepare draft proposals and engagement letters as directed.

Prepare presentations for current clients conveying analysis results and recommendations or reviewing service capabilities for potential clients.

Participate in client interviews to gather information on intercompany transactions, covering corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, profit drivers, industry pressure, historical context, and industry information, and review benchmarking work completed by Associate staff.

Tax Controversy: Apply understanding of audit, competent authority, and APA processes, including statutory deadlines.

Prepare IDR responses on behalf of clients and collaborate with clients to prepare audit arguments as needed.

Tax Provision and FIN 48: Apply transfer pricing in the context of tax provisions and ASC 740‑10.

Draft memos for transfer pricing ASC 740‑10 analysis.

Collaborate with Core Tax and STS groups.

Develop an in‑depth understanding of technical and practical issues in one or more areas of taxation.

Maintain high visibility in local offices and region through networking.

Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise day‑to‑day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Associates and Interns and review work product.

Ensure Associates and Interns are trained on relevant tax software.

Provide clarification and guidance on complex concepts and tasks to colleagues and clients as appropriate.

Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete evaluations for Associates and Interns.

Act as mentor to Associates and Interns.

Monitor budgets and billings to manage project profitability.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or other relevant field, required.

Advanced degree, preferred.

Experience

More than 2 years of prior work experience, required.

Experience working within a transfer pricing practice, required.

Prior supervisory experience, preferred.

Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective, preferred.

Software

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Prior exposure to financial databases (S&P Compustat, Moody’s RiskCalc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, etc.), preferred.

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $73,500 - $131,250

Maryland Range: $73,500 - $131,250

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $73,500 - $131,250

Washington DC Range: $73,500 - $131,250
