Position Summary This role involves setting up, configuring, and maintaining low voltage systems such as security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, and network cabling. Responsibilities include running, terminating, and labeling cables, performing regular maintenance checks, identifying and resolving system issues, providing technical support and training to end users, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Sets up and configures various low voltage systems.
Runs, terminates, and labels cables according to project requirements and industry standards.
Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability.
Identifies and resolves issues in low voltage systems promptly to minimize downtimes.
Fixes any faults or damages in systems, ensuring they are restored to optimal working condition.
Provides technical support and training to end users on how to operate and maintain low voltage systems.
Addresses customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
Ensures all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
Follows all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Maintains accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
Generates reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
Evaluates existing systems to determine if upgrades or enhancements are needed.
Performs system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards.
Works closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion.
Communicates effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Stays abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others with how to adapt to change or new challenges.
Develops, communicates, and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; analyzing and applying information from multiple sources; monitoring progress and results; and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities.
Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by explaining, guiding, and demonstrating how to apply these in executing business processes and practices; implementing related action plans; and assisting management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Prior work experience in role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI Installer Certification, CompTIA certifications for networking (e.g., Network+), Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems), NICET 1 & 2 Fire Alarm certification, OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification/training, Technical training or certification in low voltage systems.
