CNC Mill Machinist
The Mill Operator with 5 Axis Experience is responsible for setting up and operating the 5 Axis CNC machine in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications. This role requires the ability to read engineered drawings, set up and operate both manual mills and lathes, and troubleshoot complex machining tasks. The position involves leading projects from start to finish while managing products and processes efficiently. Responsibilities Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC to machine flat, contoured, and formed parts according to inch and metric drawing specifications. Act as a technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities. Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes. Communicate issues related to work orders, programming errors, and material shortages. Focus on the reduction of material usage, labor, and scrap. Learn, comprehend, and apply manufacturing safety practices. Perform minor maintenance activities as required by the preventive maintenance program. Participate in continued education and training, including ISO 9001, safety, blueprint reading, teamwork, and Statistical Process Control. Maintain cleanliness of the work area. Accurately record labor time for job tracking. Present a professional image in accordance with company appearance standards. Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills. Promote and demonstrate safety in accordance with company policy. Mentor and train Machinist I, II, and III. Lead large projects from start to completion. Interact with engineers on the design of parts. Advise on corrective actions that need to be taken. Document red lines and perform R&D work as directed. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills High school degree or equivalent with two to three years' experience or AA degree in Machine Technology. Good math skills, including trigonometry. Experience in machining various plastics and metals. Ability to machine to a .005 tolerance. Proficiency in using rotary tables and divider head mill vises. Capability in tooling design and inspection. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineered drawings in metric, decimal, and fractional inch units. Experience in setting up and operating manual mills and lathes. CNC programming skills. Ability to use precision measuring devices. Strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and understand machine codes. Experience in deburring parts. Ability to lift and carry products up to 35 pounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with a variety of machining skills. Demonstrated skills in a minimum of one other discipline (cross-trained). Ability to work in a team environment and contribute effectively. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Safety awareness and ability to handle fragile products carefully. Why Work Here?
