About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP Underwriter for E&S Commercial Property. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing a team of underwriters, ensuring the accurate and efficient underwriting of profitable business that meets annual premium goals. This role involves cultivating a significant book of business, collaborating with senior leaders on underwriting matters, and maintaining strong broker relationships. Key accountabilities include communicating financial objectives, setting and responding to individual and team objectives, and managing a portfolio of new and renewal business. The VP Underwriter will also be expected to have a strong technical understanding of the insurance market, particularly in the E&S property sector, and to proactively expand their market awareness. Applicants for the VP Underwriter position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Risk Management and Insurance, and at least 10 years' prior underwriting experience, with a focus on E&S property. The role requires a candidate with strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage time and projects effectively. A background in underwriting, with a proven track record of meeting financial and business goals, is essential. The ideal candidate will be adept at simplifying and explaining complex issues, and be proactive in pursuing professional development and training. Technical proficiency in MS Office and Excel is necessary, and the ability to travel and work a hybrid schedule is also a requirement.
