Land Surveyor I

Essential Duties: Analyzes field notes to resolve land boundary conflicts. Conveys information to surveying consultants. Coordinates surveying consultant's contracts and work authorizations Monitors survey parties and plans future jobs. Performs Global Positioning System (GPS), design and/or construction surveying. Trains and instructs other survey personnel. Uses a variety of surveying software and related hardware. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Land Surveyor II

Essential Duties: Coordinates, prioritizes and directs the work of the district survey staff (state and contracted forces). Provides guidance for staff pursuing SIT and RPLS registration Provides technical guidance to district personnel for surveying related inquiries. Reviews completed surveys to ensure accuracy and adherence to required specifications. May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members’ career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage. Originates, signs and seals property descriptions and oversees setting of monument property corners. Land Surveyor III

Essential Duties: Develops guidelines, procedures and policies for district surveying activities Plans, schedules and oversees surveys utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) technology Reviews district and consultant survey procedures for compliance with department, state and federal standards. Serves as liaison between TxDOT management, design staff and department or consultant survey crews. Minimum Qualifications

Education : High School Grad or Equivalent in general education. Experience

Land Surveyor I: 3 years land surveying experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Land Surveyor II: 4 years land surveying experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Land Surveyor III: 5 years land surveying experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. State of Texas as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) *Note: This line preserved from the original: Must be registered by the State of Texas as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS). Land Surveyors registered in another state, but not currently registered in the State of Texas, must meet the registration requirements of the Rules and Regulations of the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying, regulating the practice of land surveying. If application is filed after January 1, 2003, have earned a bachelor´s degree from an accredited institution of higher education that included at least 32 semester hours in a combination of courses acceptable to the board in: civil engineering; land surveying; mathematics; photogrammetry; forestry; land law; or the physical sciences.
