Monday‑Friday Full‑time (40 hours/week) 1st Shift Newington, CT P‑4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit Hybrid (office/telework) work schedules may be available The role
Property Agent Trainees are the Department’s entry‑level positions in Rights of Way. They receive training in real‑property acquisition and relocation services, property management, leasing, appraisals, title examination, closings, and deed preparation as they relate to the work of the Division of Rights of Way and perform a wide variety of increasingly difficult duties as technical skills are acquired during the development program. Property Agent Trainees become eligible for promotion to the target classification of Property Agent 1 upon successful completion of the development program. The length of the program will not exceed three years. Applicants must be available to travel to attend trainings, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc., when necessary, and must possess and retain a valid driver’s license. Salary note
1st Year of Training – Bachelor’s Degree and/or qualifying experience (FS 15 Step 1): $55,328 1st Year of Training – Master’s Degree (FS 15 Step 2): $57,320 2nd Year of Training – General Rate (FS 15 Step 5): $63,306 About us

Receives training in introductory governmental work for development of skills and knowledge in the field of public administration to qualify for advancement into agency professional positions Performs a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during the training period Performs related duties as required Knowledge, skill and ability
Oral and written communication skills Ability to acquire knowledge and skills required for the target classification Understand, evaluate and solve problems by exercising judgment and logic Read, interpret and understand written material Perform basic arithmetical computations Interpret charts, graphs and tables Learn and reason Establish and maintain cooperative relations with superiors, associates and general public Utilize computer software Minimum qualifications
Candidates must be able to meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at completion of the development program. Preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in real estate, business administration, economics, geography, communications, urban planning, political science, engineering, or a closely related field Experience using Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook Experience leveraging interpersonal, presentation, public speaking and communication skills with diverse populations Experience leveraging organizational skills to prioritize work and efficiently manage time, resources and multiple tasks while meeting deadlines Strong work ethic, positive attitude, eagerness, and ability to take direction, learn and retain job training Experience analyzing problems and recommending effective solutions Experience reading and interpreting statutes and case law Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding engineering and design drawings and plans Experience or training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Conclusion
