Property Agent Trainee (Connecticut Careers Trainee (Engineering And Related)) – Division of Rights of Way, Newington Headquarters, Newington, CT. Location: Newington, CT. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is accepting applications for a Property Agent Trainee in the Division of Rights of Way at the Newington Headquarters. Monday-Friday Full-time (40 hours/week) 1st Shift Newington, CT P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit Hybrid (office/telework) work schedules may be available The Role
Property Agent Trainees are the Department\'s entry level positions in Rights of Way. Trainees receive training in real property acquisition and relocation services, property management, leasing, appraisals, title examination, closings, and deed preparation as they relate to the work of the Division of Rights of Way. They perform a wide variety of increasingly difficult duties as technical skills are acquired during the development program. Property Agent Trainees become eligible for promotion to the target classification of Property Agent 1 after successful completion of the development program. The development program length is determined by the experience and training requirements of the designated class and the candidate’s prior education/experience, and will not exceed three (3) years. Applicants must be available to travel to trainings, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc., both within and outside of normal working hours, and must possess and retain a valid driver\'s license. Minimum Qualifications : Candidates must meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at the completion of the development program. Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in real estate, business administration, economics, geography, communications, urban planning, political science, engineering, or a closely related field Experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience with interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills with diverse populations Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and manage time and deadlines Demonstrated work ethic, eagerness to learn, and ability to take direction Experience analyzing problems and using resources to find effective solutions Experience reading and interpreting statutes, case law, and engineering/design drawings Experience or training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Notes
