Arise / EFR is looking for a Grant Writer
ARISE/Exceptional Family Resources is hiring for the position of Grant Writer. This is a full‑time position that reports directly to the Director of Advancement. The Grant Writer is responsible for writing grant proposals for both unrestricted organizational needs and restricted project and program funding requirements. The Grant Writer will research and submit timely grant proposals and produce reports for existing and new grant funded projects.
Job Summary This will require establishing and maintaining relationships with foundations, businesses, and organizations that support our work through grant funding. This position requires strong research and writing skills, along with background in nonprofit fundraising or equivalent experience. This position supports other activities of the Marketing and Communication team as needed.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the leadership team identify priority programs to seek funding
Research federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities
Evaluate alignment of opportunities with organizational priorities and program capacity
Maintain a grant calendar tracking deadlines, reporting dates, and submission requirements
Develop clear, persuasive, and well‑structured grant proposals and narratives
Monitor grant‑funded activities and expenditures to ensure compliance with funder requirements
Communicate proactively with leadership regarding changes in project scope or spending
Participate in strategic fundraising planning and development meetings
Represent the development and marketing at events and community meetings as needed
Qualifications
Experience with non‑profit grant writing
Strong written and oral communication skills
A collaborative nature in supporting organizational priorities as defined by the Board and leadership
Strong research skills
Strategic planner, goal setter
Excellent time management and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with program directors, leadership, Board members and volunteers
Work Location: 635 James Street, Syracuse, NY
Ability to work from home/remote – Hybrid schedule pending training after 90 days
Schedule: Monday‑Friday (Start time 8:00am‑4:00pm)
Full time / 40 hours weekly Non‑Exempt
Benefits – Benefits available
Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 Annually / Commensurate with experience
