Arise/Exceptional Family Services Grant Writer
Full‑time position reporting directly to the Director of Advancement. The Grant Writer is responsible for writing grant proposals for unrestricted organizational needs as well as restricted project and program funding requirements, researching and submitting timely proposals, and producing reports for existing and new grant‑funded projects.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the leadership team identify priority programs to seek funding
Research federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities
Evaluate alignment of opportunities with organizational priorities and program capacity
Maintain a grant calendar tracking deadlines, reporting dates, and submission requirements
Develop clear, persuasive, and well‑structured grant proposals and narratives
Monitor grant‑funded activities and expenditures to ensure compliance with funder requirements
Communicate proactively with leadership regarding changes in project scope or spending
Participate in strategic fundraising planning and development meetings
Represent the development and marketing at events and community meetings as needed
Qualifications
Experience with non‑profit grant writing
Strong written and oral communication skills
A collaborative nature in supporting organizational priorities defined by the Board and leadership
Strong research skills
Strategic planner and goal setter
Excellent time management and ability to meet multiple deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with program directors, leadership, Board members, and volunteers
Location & Schedule 635 James Street, Syracuse, NY; remote‑home/hybrid possible after 90 days. Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, 40 hrs per week, Non‑Exempt.
Compensation & Benefits $50,000 – $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience; benefits available.
