Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field reasonably related to vocational rehabilitation (e.g., business administration, human resources, special education, economics, or another related field).

Minimum of 2 years paid/unpaid experience in direct counseling, employment/placement counseling, human resources, recruitment, or related activities that prepare individuals with disabilities for competitive employment.

Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) plus at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Experience with direct work with individuals with disabilities in settings such as independent living centers or advocacy activities.

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish or English and Creole is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide independent vocational rehabilitation counseling to individuals with disabilities to attain employment.

Develop and implement Individual Plans for Employment and coordinate services to achieve successful outcomes.

Conduct in‑depth interviews to determine eligibility and feasibility for vocational goals.

Manage resources to ensure financial accountability in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Collaborate with community partners and employers to secure appropriate placement.

Provide technical assistance and training to internal and external customers.

Maintain client information, case records, and produce correspondence.

Participate in training experiences designed to enhance professional competency.

Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of theories and practices in vocational rehabilitation guidance and counseling.

Knowledge of interviewing techniques and medical/psychological aspects of disability groups.

Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data, administer tests, and provide counseling in career planning.

Ability to develop vocational rehabilitation programs and place clients appropriately.

Effective communication and relationship‑building skills.
