General Job Description Dogwood Industries is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team. A successful candidate is someone who can efficiently and accurately inspect components and materials as received, grind/sand, touch‑up paint in accordance with work requirements and specifications as directed by others. The candidate must be able to understand written and verbal instructions while following specific work instruction and quality of finished product. While the individual will work with steel, metal, painted components, a successful candidate will have experience in grinding/sanding preparation, inspection and or material handling, mechanical assembly, and maintain a safe work environment through organization and housekeeping.

Duties & Responsibilities

Inspection and preparation of structural/non‑structural metal in a manufacturing setting

Operation of hand and power tools

Accurate use of measuring devices including squares and tape measures (when required)

Participation in safe material handling and suspended load movements

Ability to follow instructions and execute assigned duties

Complete tasks within set time frames to ensure goals are met

Always follow safety guidelines and procedures

Perform all other duties as assigned

Preferred Experience

High school diploma, general education degree or vocational degree

Experience with general trade skills for grinding/cutting/metalworking & drilling

Ability to select the proper tool for the tasks and ensure proper operation

Skillful operation of non‑specialized shop equipment

Participates in the development of processes for repeatable execution of tasks

Physical Requirements / Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, be able to reach overhead, be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 70 pounds. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environmental characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
