Aid Afghanistan for Education (AAFE) is a non‑profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized Afghan girls and children through education. Since 2004, AAFE has run programs that provide private‑school enrollment for street‑working children and online English and computer classes for girls banned from formal education. Before 2021, AAFE educated more than 7,000 young women, and today we continue to support learners whose futures depend on continued access to knowledge and opportunity.

Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Manager to help recruit, onboard, and manage volunteers. The Volunteer Manager will play a crucial role in strengthening our team, ensuring effective communication, and creating a positive experience for our volunteers. This is a remote, unpaid volunteer position with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities Recruitment

Collaborate closely with the Executive Director to identify emerging organizational needs and define new volunteer roles accordingly.

Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers with diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds.

Post opportunities on relevant platforms, monitor postings, screen applications, and meet with prospective volunteers.

Management

Manage the onboarding and orientation process for new volunteers to ensure a positive and well‑supported start.

Provide ongoing guidance and support, responding to questions and addressing concerns as they arise.

Organize and facilitate virtual meetings, check‑ins, and engagement activities to keep volunteers informed, prepared, and connected.

Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, contributions, and task assignments, including coordinating task handovers when needed.

Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions through formal and informal acknowledgment initiatives.

Qualifications

Experience in volunteer management, human resources, or community engagement preferred.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A strong commitment and genuine interest in AAFE’s mission and values.

Commitment

Minimum 5–10 hours per week, depending on availability and organizational needs.
