Pay Information State of New Hampshire provided pay range:
$43,934.80 – $64,389.00 (includes annual salary, with exact payment based on experience and skills)
Job Summary Under direct supervision of the clerk of court, the Court Monitor will perform a variety of services associated with the monitoring, logging and recording of testimony in a courtroom, and maintenance of equipment. The role also provides extensive administrative support to the assigned judicial officer, processes court cases, enters and updates case data, and assists the public, attorneys, law enforcement representatives, and other persons in contact with the court.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; additional education or training preferred.
Five years of relevant court, law office, business, medical or general office clerical, secretarial, or related support experience involving public contact and performing data entry or closely related responsibilities; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Must pass a criminal background check and reference check.
Ability to work in a potentially stressful environment, including exposure to hostile situations, infectious diseases, and heavy equipment handling.
Special Requirements Performance of job functions in a potentially stressful environment involving the risk of exposure to hostile situations, infectious diseases and the possibility of extended keying or writing, prolonged sitting and/or standing and the need to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky boxes, file folders, office supplies and other equipment/materials.
Essential Functions
Travel to trial courts as assigned.
Operate and maintain courtroom recording equipment, check microphones and other recording devices, and monitor recording of court testimony.
Create and maintain logs of proceedings, preserve exhibits, and maintain recordings in the filing system.
Prepare court orders, memoranda, transcript estimates, duplicate recordings, and log notes for transcription.
Perform clerical and support tasks as directed by the clerk; assist clerk in courtroom duties and train other employees as needed.
Process court cases, verify records and documents, and conduct data entry in the court’s case management system.
Sort, index, and file cases, retrieve and file material for judicial and staff use, and provide information in compliance with state law.
Assist with preparation of juror lists, related documents, periodic records and statistical reports, and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of State of New Hampshire statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, and applicable Federal rules and requirements.
Knowledge of record keeping, bookkeeping, files, records, and case management principles.
Knowledge of court processes and legal terminology.
Strong oral communication skills to assist a variety of court users.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in computer use, particularly word processing and other software applications.
Excellent English grammar, spelling and composition skills, with the ability to edit for accuracy.
Ability to prepare documents using dictation equipment.
