Donor Relations – Administrative Assistant
Location: New York, NY
Company Overview A leading environmental advocacy organization is seeking a Donor Relations Administrative Assistant to support their Development and Donor Relations team during a busy season. This role is a three‑month contract with the potential for a permanent position, focusing on donor communications and data accuracy.
Job Responsibilities
Respond promptly and professionally to inbound donor emails and phone inquiries.
Process incoming donations and donor invoices; ensure accuracy and timely entry into Salesforce and other internal systems.
Review reply forms and donation documentation to verify that data is entered properly.
Update donor records and addresses as needed to maintain accurate information.
Provide clerical and administrative support to the Donor Relations and Finance teams.
Initially focus on email inquiries and data processing, transitioning to phone coverage once comfortable.
Handle all donor information with confidentiality and discretion.
Work independently after training while maintaining open communication with the team.
Qualifications
1‑2 years of administrative or customer service experience required.
Prior experience responding to customers or donors in a professional setting is highly preferred.
Proficiency with databases and/or CRM tools; Salesforce experience is a strong plus.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and file management.
Comfortable handling sensitive financial and donor information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer‑friendly demeanor.
Ability to learn quickly and operate independently after training.
Nonprofit experience a plus, but not required.
Compensation Pay Rate: $28 – $32/hr
