Overview The
CAD Technician
will support the
Design Engineering Team
in the creation, revision, and documentation of 3D models and 2D drawings for transit seating systems used in heavy-duty bus and rail applications. This role will work closely with
Product Data Coordinators
to ensure design data integrity, standardization, and compliance with industry and company standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where precision and execution matter.
Responsibilities
Create, modify, and maintain accurate 3D models and 2D drawings of seating components and assemblies using SolidWorks and Solid Edge per established engineering standards and customer requirements.
Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting documentation in alignment with company procedures and transit industry requirements.
Collaborate directly with Product Data Coordinators to ensure proper version control, file naming conventions, and data release processes within the company’s SyteLine (ERP/MRP) system.
Support the engineering team in managing and tracking assigned tasks through Jira, ensuring deadlines, priorities, and quality standards are met.
Follow company CAD standards, engineering practices, and drawing conventions. Ensure designs meet manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance standards for the transit seating industry.
Communicate effectively with engineers, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain personnel to resolve drawing discrepancies and support production readiness.
Assist in developing and maintaining best practices for CAD data management, drawing quality, and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of CAD drafting experience in a manufacturing or mechanical design environment.
Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or Solid Edge CAD platforms.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
