Willow Ambulatory Principal Trainer Position Summary
The Willow Ambulatory Principal Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality training programs for the Epic Willow Ambulatory module. This role plays a key part in ensuring clinical and operational staff can effectively use Epic to support safe, efficient, and compliant medication management workflows in the ambulatory setting. The Principal Trainer partners closely with application analysts, clinicians, operational leaders, and project management to create curriculum, maintain training environments, and support end‑user adoption during implementation, optimization, and upgrade cycles. Key Responsibilities
Create, update, and maintain all training materials for Willow Ambulatory, including participant guides, eLearning modules, quick‑tip sheets, assessments, and job aids.
Deliver instructor‑led classroom training, virtual training, and one‑on‑one education to ambulatory clinicians, pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Epic Willow Ambulatory functionality, workflows, and best practices.
Oversee training environment build requirements and collaborate with analysts as needed.
Curriculum & Content Management
Lead curriculum planning aligned with operational workflows and organizational objectives.
Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously refine materials based on user feedback, system updates, and workflow changes.
Ensure training materials comply with regulatory, organizational, and Epic documentation standards.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Epic application analysts to understand system changes and incorporate them into training.
Partner with ambulatory pharmacy leaders, clinical informatics, and operations to ensure training aligns with real‑world workflows.
Support readiness activities, go‑live planning, and end‑user activation efforts.
Go‑Live & Post‑Implementation Support
Participate in go‑live support, including at‑the‑elbow assistance for pharmacists and ambulatory providers.
Provide optimization training after go‑live and assist with adoption of new features during upgrades.
Track and respond to training‑related service tickets or escalations.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Education, Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Epic Willow Ambulatory certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeline.
3+ years of experience in Epic training, pharmacy workflows, or healthcare education.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to teach diverse audiences.
Experience developing training materials and using adult education methodologies.
Preferred
Direct ambulatory pharmacy or medication management experience (pharmacist, technician, informatics specialist).
Experience supporting Epic implementations or optimizations.
Knowledge of ancillary Epic modules integrated with Willow Ambulatory (e.g., Hyperspace, Beacon, Orders, Bridges).
Familiarity with clinical compliance standards, medication safety practices, and ambulatory operations.
