Position Summary We are seeking an experienced
Epic Principal Trainer (PT)
with certification in
Willow Ambulatory
or
Epic Ambulatory
to lead education, curriculum development, and training strategy for our ambulatory clinical and medication management workflows. As a key member of our training team, you will design and deliver high-quality Epic training that supports clinicians, pharmacy teams, and ambulatory staff in providing safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities Training Program Leadership Serve as the primary training lead for Epic Willow Ambulatory training workflows and curriculum.
Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, eLearnings, training guides, and job aids that reflect current system build and organizational standards.
Build and maintain training environments, patient scenarios, templates, and workflow exercises.
Provide guidance and oversight for Credentialed Trainers, including supporting teach-backs and ensuring consistent training delivery.
Epic Instruction & End-User Education Deliver classroom and virtual training sessions for providers, pharmacists, nurses, and ambulatory staff.
Conduct competency assessments and evaluate user readiness for system access.
Support upgrades, new functionality releases, and workflow changes with targeted education efforts.
Collaboration & System Change Support Work closely with Epic Willow Ambulatory and Epic Ambulatory analysts to ensure training materials align with system build.
Participate in workflow review sessions, application design discussions, and user acceptance testing.
Assist with go-live and optimization efforts, offering at-the-elbow support and follow-up coaching.
Ongoing Support & Continuous Improvement Continuously update training materials to reflect best practices, regulatory changes, and optimization goals.
Provide end-user support related to training content, system workflows, and navigation questions.
Build strong partnerships with clinical operations, pharmacy leadership, nursing, ambulatory teams, and IT colleagues.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree in
Education ,
Healthcare ,
Instructional Design , or a related field
OR
7 years of adult education, clinical instruction, or training development experience
Epic Willow Ambulatory Principal Trainer Certification
OR
Epic Ambulatory Principal Trainer Certification
Preferred: Previous experience in a healthcare training program or clinical education environment
Experience in curriculum design, classroom instruction, or instructional technology
Understanding of ambulatory medication workflows or outpatient clinical operations
Ideal Candidate Attributes Excellent presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to explain complex concepts in clear, user-friendly terms
Highly organized with strong project management skills
Collaborative and able to work effectively with clinicians and leadership
