Description Under the supervision of the Technical Manager, the Solid Works/CAD Technician will perform a variety of design and drafting activities including preparing and updating installation drawings for projects and preparing assembly and manufacturing drawings in 2D & 3D. This position will require a thorough understanding of Solid Works and excellent communication with internal and external customers and an aptitude for architectural, construction and mechanical drafting.
Job Duties
Support the Business Units with technical advice relating to Kee Safety Group products (support and training will be given from the Technical Manager)
Coordinate all incoming requests from customers, prospects and internal customers that require detailing
Creating accurate Solid Works/CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions and site visits
Systematically saving sketches and drawings on our CAD server; keeping the server organized; updating project folders and files as jobs progress and revisions are made
Seek clarity and understanding from the technical manager when you are not 100% certain of something
Create, edit, and update standard details for use in projects
Prepare bill of materials (BOMs) and step by step assembly instructions for customers
Prepare dimensional and installation details for complex drawings
Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documentation to produce 2D and 3D Solid Works/CAD drawings for customers
Establish filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings
Requirements
Associate's degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field
Highly proficient in using current 2D & 3D Solid Modelling in Solid works CAD Software
Minimum two years of SolidWorks drawing/assembly work experience. Four years preferred.
Numerate and analytical skills, high attention to detail
Knowledge in scaffolding and guard railing is advantageous
