Job Brief: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team at Yamashiro Hollywood. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of ingredients, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Your role is vital in ensuring a smooth and efficient operation in our culinary department.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients, such as washing, chopping, and measuring, according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
Follow established procedures to prepare and assemble food items, including soups, sauces, salads, and vegetable dishes.
Stock and rotate inventory, ensuring the availability of ingredients, supplies, and utensils for the kitchen team.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of food, equipment, and utensils.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of perishable items.
Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of food items during service hours.
Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries, ensuring quality and accuracy of products.
Follow instructions from the chef or kitchen supervisor to assist in various tasks, such as prepping for events or special menu items.
Support the kitchen team during service hours by assisting in plating dishes, garnishing, and ensuring proper presentation.
Skills Required:
Proven experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, including knife skills and various cooking methods.
Familiarity with proper food handling and safety procedures, including knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a high-pressure environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, track supplies, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the culinary team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the operational needs.
Culinary training or certification from a reputable institution is a plus, but not mandatory.
