Position Overview
Best Friends Pet Care is a 30‑year‑old employee‑owned facility with over 70 locations across the United States. Responsibilities
Provide dog training services to Best Friends’ customers.
Offer a variety of services, including board and train, private and group training, and specialty training as allowed by facility and business constraints.
Sell and recommend retail items that support training sessions (e.g., leads, collars, lure treats).
Follow the specified training program outlines.
Promptly respond to customer inquiries.
Promote services by participating in center events.
Promote services to area veterinarians by routinely visiting clinics.
Deliver excellent customer service by addressing the specific needs of dog owners.
Keep manager and customer service staff updated on class offerings.
Maintain class and training schedules.
Ensure all classes and training are scheduled in the Best Friends computer system.
Keep training areas clean and tidy after use.
Handle dogs appropriately within the center.
Report any pet or pet health or customer concerns promptly to the Center Manager.
Collaborate with the Canine Interactive Services Manager to grow center business and support the training program.
Uphold the mission and values of Best Friends Pet Care and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Complete Safe Handling training.
Requirements
Appropriate education in dog training via schooling or internship with a professional dog trainer.
Minimum of 2 years professional dog training experience.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends as dictated by the class/training schedule.
Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently; able to stay on feet for full shifts.
Must be able to use a computer system.
Must tolerate exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
Personal Requirements
Must display solid dog training skills.
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
Must possess a love of animals.
Cannot compete directly with Best Friends or solicit Best Friends’ customers for personal business.
Travel
Minimal as required for business outreach and events.
