Gaudenzia's Mission:

Gaudenzia’s mission is to promote long‑term recovery by providing comprehensive treatment and support to people with substance use disorder, co‑occurring mental health disorders, and related conditions, regardless of individual circumstances.

Qualifications

Education and training: GED or High School Diploma and successful completion of Pennsylvania Certification Board training for Certified Recovery Specialist.

Minimum 12 months of volunteer service or related employment.

No substitutions for education or training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Express relevant personnel recovery experience clearly and effectively.

Travel independently to programs, service and appointments as needed.

Conduct self‑in in a manner conducive to growth, learning, and independence.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Be knowledgeable about services and regulations pertaining to recovery from co‑occurring disorders and confidentiality.

Function as a team member.

Develop positive, ethical therapeutic relationships with individuals, promoting personal growth while maintaining dignity.

Your Responsibilities In This Role May Include

Provide encouragement needed for the client to reach their recovery goals.

Reinforce the process the recovering person has learned for identifying weaknesses such as negative self‑talk, while assisting them to identify strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.

Assist the person in articulating personal recovery goals.

Assist the recovering person in developing an aftercare (wellness recovery) plan.

Provide resources about community and natural supports and how to utilize them in recovery.

Promote empowerment skills through self‑advocacy and stigma‑busting tools.

Advocate for effective recovery‑based services.

Attend mandatory treatment team meetings to discuss client recovery process during treatment, including stabilization, behavior modification, MAT options, discharge, and aftercare planning.

Serve as a referral source and liaison with established 12‑step and other community support groups.

Model effective coping techniques and self‑help strategies.

Support vocational choices and assist with job‑related anxiety, support groups.

Teach and utilize problem‑solving techniques and coping skills.

Assist in building social skills in the community that enhance job acquisition and tenure.

Accompany the recovering person to appointments, meetings, and events while maintaining ethical boundaries and supervisor communication.

Document progress, objectives, goals, and treatment plan development in MyAvatar.

Collaboratively document plans and interventions with the recovering person.
