Base pay range: $52,425.00 per year to $63,548.00 per year.

Duties and Responsibilities
Perform journeyman‑level plumbing/steam fitting duties and supervise others in trade repairs.
Maintain and install plumbing fixtures and appliances such as sinks, showers, toilets, dishwashers, and garbage disposals.
Repair, maintain, and install equipment such as gas water heaters, heat exchangers, heating equipment, water pumps, and other steam, gas, or water‑system components.
Plan and lay out installation, alteration, and repair of high‑ and low‑pressure piping systems carrying water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases; review plans and layout building plumbing systems.
Work off ladders and scaffolds to perform job tasks.
Estimate quantity of materials needed for assigned work.
Act as lead tradesman on assigned tasks and provide supervision and guidance to others.
Schedule work with other trades to keep jobs on schedule and achieve desired outcomes.
Preferred Requirements
Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade or trades to which the applicant is assigned.
Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Work schedule may vary based on operational need.
Required to train and supervise others; receive training in operation and maintenance procedures related to asbestos‑containing materials.
Required to plan and lay out work, develop time and material lists, read and interpret plans, codes, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Valid NYS driver’s license; when required to operate motor vehicles, must possess a license appropriate for the vehicle type.
Minimum Qualifications Non‑competitive: Four years of full‑time experience in plumbing under a skilled tradesperson or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in plumbing at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; or successful completion of a two‑year trades specialist plumber & steamfitter traineeship.
Successful completion of the traineeship includes a total of 288 hours of trade‑specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math coursework, 45 hours of technical communications coursework, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading coursework; on‑the‑job training of 4,000 hours; overall average of “C” or better.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type.
