CNC Setup/Operating Machinist
in a mixed prototyping and production environment. You’ll assist with
setups , run CNC mills/lathes, dial in tooling and work offsets, and keep parts in tolerance using solid inspection practices. We leverage quality machines, automation, and lights‑out techniques—so a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a drive to maximize spindle time will take you far in our shop.
What You’ll Do Setups & Production
Assist senior machinists to
set up
CNC machines, install tooling, set work/tool offsets, and load programs.
Operate CNC equipment; monitor sounds, chip formation, and coolant to protect tool health and surface finish.
Perform
in‑process inspections
(micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges) and hold tolerance throughout the run.
Read/interpret blueprints and GD&T; follow setup sheets and operation procedures.
Become familiar with
Mastercam ; assist with programming low‑complexity parts and DNC/program management.
Support 5S, preventative maintenance, and lights‑out readiness (workholding, tool life, probing where applicable).

What You’ll Bring
Experience:
1–5 years in a machine shop with hands‑on CNC operation; setup assistance experience preferred.
Measurement:
Confident with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators; records results accurately.
Technical:
Able to read/interpret blueprints, tolerances, and basic GD&T; basic CAM programming skills.
Physical:
Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to ~50 lbs.
Mindset:
Safety‑first, detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive about throughput and quality.
Shop Equipment You’ll Use
Vertical/horizontal bandsaws, grinders, deburring tools.
Manual lathe and Bridgeport‑style mill for secondary ops.
Tool presetters/probes where applicable; basic PM tasks.
Depending on experience.
