Summary:

The main function of a mechanical drafter is to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.

Responsibilities:

Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.

Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, Client out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.

Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.

Position instructions and comments onto drawings.

Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components.

Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the material so.

Client out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.

Qualifications:

Years of experience: 2 year technical school degree in computer aided drafting program or 2+ years equivalent experience

Prior mechanical drafting experience (preferably for equipment based mechanical components)

Experience with 3D parametric drafting/modeling softwares (ex. PTC Creo-preferred, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor)

Proficiency in application of Geometric Dimensioning and tolerancing on drawings (specifically related to ASME Y14.5 standards)

Experience with application of Microsoft office products (i.e. Word, OneNote, Excel, etc)

Experience with lifecycle management tools (i.e. Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.)

Experience with manufacturing processes (sheetmetal forming, machining, iron/aluminum casting processes, etc.)

Experience maintaining heavy equipment

Desired Skills:

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.

Team player and detail oriented.

Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

Basic knowledge of relevant computer application, such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting).

Pay Transparency:

The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $22.00 – $23.00 /hour. Non‑exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full‑time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
