Location:

601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, New York, 14642, United States.

Schedule & Hours:

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, UR – Day shift.

Position Summary:

Installs, tests, and repairs electric lighting, power distribution, and control systems in compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Performs maintenance on high‑ and low‑voltage systems, elevators, conveyors, motors, and specialized electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

Inspect, test, and maintain electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power distribution circuits and equipment.

Isolate equipment and component failures using electrical test equipment.

Perform layout work for electrical maintenance and construction operations.

Install new panel boxes, circuits, and feeder lines to meet load conditions.

Conduct electrical maintenance on elevators, hoists, conveyors, electric motors, and lighting systems.

Perform complex wiring, installation, and troubleshooting on motors, generators, switches, transformers, clocks, intercom, paging, alarm, and signal systems.

Replace or exchange defective mechanical components and electrical parts according to schematic diagrams.

Perform basic and routine tasks (e.g., carpentry or mechanical) incidental to electrical work when required.

Pul and install cable, including underground cable.

Install transformers, disconnects, switches, bus structures, and fuses.

Install and maintain control lighting for performances, if applicable.

Work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions.

Perform other related duties as requested.

Act as instructor, troubleshooter, and specialist; guide and assist in training lower‑classified trades personnel.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to read and write English, perform mathematical calculations, and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and regulations.

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the Electrical Trade or equivalent training/experience.

Minimum of 5–6 years of experience, including apprenticeship time.

Must use safety equipment as specified and adhere to OSHA or other safety regulations.

May require a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and safe driving ability.

Willingness to work long and irregular hours when assigned.

Must keep a current telephone available for call‑in duty.

Maintain current contact information with Trade Supervisor and Department office.
