Diesel Mechanic Trainee Entry Level

Location: Hagerstown, MD Salary: $20.00 per hour Schedule: Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF, Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
We will pay while training to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician. No experience required.
Responsibilities
Move heavy‑duty vehicles into/out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or deliver to rental shop.
Wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles properly while adhering to shop safety policies.
Record fuel activity and maintain fuel/DEF inventories and reconciliation using handheld devices.
Perform multi‑point inspections on inbound units, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, lights, etc., and report service or driver issues.
Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards; perform some facility maintenance.
Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments (hands‑on and online).
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines (preferred).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery.
Ability to troubleshoot quickly and work independently and as part of a team.
Professional representation of Ryder and competent engagement with employees and customers.
Time‑management and priority‑setting skills.
Track record of good attendance and performance.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Beginner knowledge of machines and tools, shop management systems (preferred).
Must hold a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
Regulated Tech Requirements
Obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor‑vehicle check.
