Broadley-James Corporation designs and manufactures high-quality pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) measurement solutions for both life science and industrial process applications. We are seeking a detail-oriented SolidWorks Drafter to create accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of our manufactured pH sensors and related components. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain 3D part and assembly models in SolidWorks, primarily based on existing components and assemblies
Generate 2D drawings including dimensions, tolerances, notes, and views required for manufacturing and quality inspection
Convert legacy drawings, sketches, or undocumented parts into standardized SolidWorks models and drawings, in accordance with company expectations
Apply company drawing standards, naming conventions, and revision control requirements
Update drawings to reflect approved changes and maintain drawing accuracy over time
Organize and manage CAD files within the company’s document control system
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams to clarify drawing requirements
Measure and document physical parts using calipers, micrometers, and other basic metrology tools, where necessary
Support audits, supplier communication, and internal documentation needs as required
Abilities
Ability to accurately translate physical parts into 3D models and 2D drawings
Ability to work methodically with high attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
Ability to follow established drafting standards, templates, and revision controls without deviation
Ability to manage multiple drawings and priorities while meeting deadlines
Ability to identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and escalate appropriately
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams
Ability to maintain organized CAD data within a PDM-controlled environment
Ability to accept direction and feedback while working independently once requirements are defined
Physical Demands
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation
Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements while using a keyboard and mouse
Ability to view and interpret detailed drawings and CAD models on a computer screen
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach while accessing files or equipment
Ability to handle, measure, and manipulate small mechanical components and assemblies
Ability to use basic measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis
Ability to work in an office and/or light manufacturing environment with standard safety requirements
Preferred Experience / Minimum Qualifications
Proven work experience as a CAD Drafter using SolidWorks
Hands-on experience working within a SolidWorks PDM system, including check-in/check-out procedures, revision control, file structure and metadata management
Demonstrated ability to create production-ready 2D drawings and 3D models
Experience modeling from existing physical components and legacy documentation
Working knowledge of basic GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing drawing practices
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow documented processes and maintain data integrity
Familiarity with ERP systems and formal document control workflows
Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, or related field preferred
Experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical components preferred
Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (ISO 9001, GMP, etc.) preferred
