Sr. Field Mechanic (IBEW 1547)

The Sr. Field Mechanic will travel to project sites across the designated service area, supporting our field teams. You’ll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs safely and professionally. Like every team member, we rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to internal customers.
This position requires significant travel, including overnight stays, to project locations and may require responding to emergencies outside regular hours, working overtime, weekends, and holidays. To support these travel requirements, a company vehicle, fuel card, and lodging will be provided.

Essential Functions
Advance‑level skilled or career level position.
Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment.
Perform a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment.
Frequently travel to customer job sites; maintain service vehicle in a clean, professional manner.
May provide oversight for less experienced mechanics.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Identify mechanical problems visually or with diagnostic equipment.
Maintain records of time, materials, equipment condition, and repairs.
Track information in computer software; ensure completion and accuracy of repair orders and weekly timesheets.
Conduct safety inspections and prepare safety documentation.
Work in accordance with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills; keep current with hazardous material training requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and industry‑specific standards.
Qualifications
Five years of experience in general heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; or equivalent trade school/technical school time plus four years of experience.
Must be able to operate company vehicles and equipment daily and possess a valid driver’s license.
Minimum age 18.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Reliable with a strong work ethic.
Proven ability to work independently without supervision.
Good teamwork skills.
Effective communication skills to converse with employees, read orders, work instructions, and make accurate entries in daily logs.
Basic computer or data entry skills.
Solid experience with mechanical tools, materials, and testing equipment.
Strong knowledge of design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
Ability to follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures.
Good understanding of applicable regulatory guidelines and rules.
