Electrician Maintenance Specialist

The purpose of this position is to provide minor maintenance, repair, modification, installation and construction of County facilities and equipment, building and grounds maintenance. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. The essential functions listed below represent the majority of the time spent in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Performs a broad range of skilled and non-skilled trades including carpentry and/or painting, plumbing, custodial and grounds maintenance, mechanical and related tasks.
Performs roof and drain inspections/maintenance, and minor repairs.
Participates in the maintenance and repair of buildings, structural components, doors, door frames, windows, floors, ceilings and walls.
Assists in performing carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting and electrical services.
Identifies problems, determines solutions and/or repair needs and performs necessary work.
Repairs furniture and installs partitions, shelves, doors, windows, floors, ceilings and walls.
Replaces fan belts, motors, switches and other defective parts and equipment.
Installs toilets, foundations, and other plumbing fixtures.
Installs sheetrock and paneling, plaster walls and finishes concrete.
Assists with providing cost estimates for repairs, installations and maintenance.
Completes office moves and/or transports furniture to department offices.
Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School graduation or GED equivalent.
Over one year and up to and including two years of related experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
