Overview The Field Mechanic will travel to project sites across the designated service area in Texas to support our field teams. You will perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on fleet equipment, ensuring safe and professional operation. The role offers opportunities for progression within the Fleet Department and requires exceptional customer service to internal customers.
Travel Requirements Significant travel throughout Texas, including overnight stays and the ability to respond to emergencies outside regular hours. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required. A company vehicle, fuel card, and lodging will be provided.
Essential Functions
Perform mechanical assignments using independent judgment and specific industry procedures.
Service and repair a variety of fleet equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and company schedules.
Travel to customer job sites for repairs; maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
Oversee junior mechanics when necessary.
Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Diagnose mechanical problems with visual and diagnostic equipment.
Maintain detailed records of time, materials, and repairs.
Track job information in computer software and ensure accurate timesheets.
Conduct safety inspections and prepare safety documentation.
Adhere to DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA, and other regulations.
Participate in training programs and maintain safety certifications, including hazardous material training.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in mobile heavy truck, automotive, or equipment repair; or completed a vocational/technical school program with at least four years of experience.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
Minimum age 18.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Dependable with strong work ethic.
Works independently without direct supervision.
Team player with effective communication skills.
Familiar with reading orders, work instructions, and entering data in daily logs.
Basic computer and data entry skills.
Experience with mechanical tools, materials, and testing equipment.
Knowledge of vehicle and equipment design, operation, maintenance, and repair.
Follows posted safety rules and procedures.
Understanding of applicable regulatory guidelines and rules.
