Essential Job Functions

Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.

Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they need.

Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.

Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products that they have ordered.

Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.

Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.

Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department, respond to questions, and make suggestions.

Create an environment that welcomes customers and makes them feel appreciated.

Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.

Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management.

Notify management of customer or employee accidents.

Cooperate in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
