Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. is the region’s largest hunger fighting, non-profit agency, annually working with over four hundred partner agencies throughout a 26-county region. This covers a nearly 12,000 square mile region. We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to fill the CDL Class A Driver’s position to work from our Valdosta facility.
Job Responsibilities
Operate 10-speed, manual transmission tractor and mobile pantry unit
CDL-A license must not have any transmission restriction
Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by government agencies
Conducts weekly inspection in accordance with prescribed vehicle maintenance schedule,
Ensures proper pick-up and receipt or delivery of product,
Loads truck with orders, pallets and other materials as needed for the assigned route,
Adheres to special pick‑up requirements established by specific donors.
Adheres to requirements established for partner agency deliveries.
Ensures accurate product inventory by counting cases, pallets, etc. and verifying the count with donor at time of pick‑up or with recipient agency at time of delivery,
Prepares initial donor receipt at time of pick‑up or have delivery receipt properly signed at time of delivery,
Ensures return of pallets, racks, containers, etc. in a timely manner,
Unloads donated product at food bank, including recounting items and the weighing‑in process, then places in proper storage area of the warehouse,
Develops and maintains good relations with donors and partner agency personnel,
Ensures product is maintained at proper temperatures during transport,
Maintains food bank vehicles in good running condition,
Conducts daily inspection of vehicles for proper fuel and fluid levels and makes routine safety checks,
Operates vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
Phone use must meet the SHSG protocol and Georgia hands‑free law.
Reports promptly any problems with vehicles, equipment, donors and vendors, products, and supervised personnel to

Assists with special projects as directed by the COO, DIS and Branch Ops Manager,
Maintains appropriate conduct in a manner that is safe and courteous and upholds the professional operating standards of the food bank,
Other duties as assigned.
The position reports directly to the Branch Operations Manager.
Desirable Skills Initiative; handles pressure well; ServSafe certification; Food industry experience is a major plus.
Education
High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
Driving: 3 years as a CDL-A Driver (Preferred)
License/Certification
Driver's License
CDL-A (Required)
Cleared to operate manual transmission
