is looking for a
Painter
at their Wheeling, IL facility. The painter is responsible for applying paint and other types of coatings on goods and structures using sprayers, rollers, and brushes. This job is multi‑skilled and requires a keen eye for detail and physical dexterity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Select proper paints, such as enamel, lacquer or epoxy, and solvents for units requiring painting.
Mix paint to proper viscosity and set and adjust equipment.
Fill and secure spray pots.
Adjust spray guns and/or air pressure to obtain required finish.
Check work piece surfaces for dirt, moisture, rust or scratches and repair and rework minor surface imperfections.
Move and properly position work in spray booth and turn on fans and lights.
Operate spray gun to paint products with uniform finish coatings of paint in various colors and textures to achieve proper quality level for type of product.
Apply primer coatings when required.
Maintain painting equipment and replace parts in units as necessary.
Assist in changing filters, sweeping or cleaning lighting in spray booth area.
Visually check parts and subassemblies for proper preliminary preparations and prepare surface by cleaning as necessary.
Inspect work for proper finish, make adjustments to spray heads, equipment and paint viscosity as necessary.
Touch up parts as necessary.
Clean spray heads and replace seals and hoses as necessary.
Clean spray booths at end of shift and place waste in special container and weigh and label.
Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.
Maintain orderly and clean work area in compliance with Company safety requirements.
Performs related duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications / Requirements
Detailed oriented.
Able to work in team environment.
Must be forklift certified or be able to obtain certification through our program.
Must possess the ability to operate overhead crane.
Must be able to perform tasks accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining all Company safety standards.
Education / Experience High school diploma or equivalent; two more years related experience and/or training.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Strong ability to problem‑solve.
Ability to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
