Position Summary
Provides technical expertise and manual skill in the inspection, servicing, and repair of cars, vans, trucks, and all other gas‑powered equipment. To protect safety, all employees must be current on recommended vaccinations, including COVID‑19.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs maintenance and repairs on automobiles and roadside emergencies.
Responsible for removing, installing, diagnosing, repairing, disassembling, and assembling parts and components.
Diagnoses and repairs electric and hydraulic wheelchair lifts.
Provides reasonable care and maintenance of assigned, issued, and/or checked‑out tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Documents repairs completed.
Performs all activities in accordance with the latest job safety practices.
Maintains work areas, equipment, and tools in proper order and with care.
May be required to perform related duties as required and/or assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
3‑5 years of experience as an automotive mechanic.
Must have or be able to obtain ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification.
Knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures of automotive repair.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot automotive issues.
Strong judgment and reasoning abilities.
Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform job functions.
Effective oral and written communication skills with employees, customers, and vendors.
Ability to work extended hours and be on‑call, as needed.
Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e‑mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, with aptitude to learn other software.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds safely.
