Base pay range $65,357.76/yr - $94,405.65/yr
Employment Type: Full Time, Mid-Level Department: Legal
CGS is seeking a Senior FOIA Paralegal to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This position will allow candidates to demonstrate expertise in performing legal review and FOIA request processing, among other litigation support tasks.
Skills and attributes for success:
Conduct searches and analyze result sets to separate non-responsive documents from responsive documents and screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
Redact and code responsive documents.
Perform legal research.
Draft legal documents.
Use eDiscovery tools such as Nuix Investigate, Relativity, and other document review platforms.
Process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and apply exemptions.
Qualifications
Paralegal certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is very helpful.
Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery and document review tools strongly desired.
Experience processing FOIA requests and demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations.
Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and proficiency with research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency with common computer applications.
Ability to work independently and deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Preferred
Two years of experience using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging.
Two years of experience in processing FOIA requests for federal agencies.
Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
