Your contribution

Outstanding Service: Provide the world class assistance to veterans to improve their quality of life

Continuous Improvement: Participate in facility meetings, training sessions, and the implementation of the Arizona Management System (AMS) to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency

Team Collaboration: Work with other professionals using your expertise while improving your knowledge, skills, and abilities

Job Duties

Interprets and applies State Personnel System Personnel Rules and policies and procedures

Handles the onboarding and 1-9 verification process

Prepares personnel action forms

Enters new hires, promotions, demotions, salary changes, etc. into HRIS

Manages access to and support for learning management program

Conducts new hire orientation, personnel file reviews, and responds to a wide variety of personnel inquires

Manages benefits, including initial enrollment, open enrollment, and qualified life changes Manages leaves of absence, leave tracking and leave without pay (LWOP)

Reviews FMLA requests and certification forms, donated annual leave and worker's compensation

Reviews disciplinary action requests and documentation

Researches employee relations file to determine any prior disciplinary action and recommends level of discipline

Prepares disciplinary action letters, memos, and performance improvement plans for HR manager review and approval

Attends meetings and trainings relevant to area of assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of:

Public personnel administration

Federal and State laws pertinent to area of assignment

Recruitment processes and procedures

Interviewing techniques

Personnel systems, including HRIS, recruitment applications, and performance management programs

Skill in:

Verbal and written communication

Interpreting and applying rules, policies, procedures, and laws

Using a personal computer and associated programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite)

Organization and time management

Exercising independent judgment

Ability to:

Maintain strict confidentiality

Work independently and as a part of a team

Develop/revise policies and procedures

Analyze and solve problems

Travel on State business

Selective Preference(s) One year of experience in HR or any combination of work experience/education that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position

Pre-Employment Requirements

This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).

Current Negative Tb skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last 6 months or a written statement from a physician, physician's assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or tuberculosis

Must be able to obtain and retain a valid Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements.
