Supervisory Recreation Specialist – Navy Region Southeast Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR)
Location: Blue Angel Park, Pensacola, Florida. This role is within the Community Recreation Department of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR).
Overview Incumbent manages a comprehensive, year‑round community recreation program, overseeing program development, staffing, scheduling, marketing, and partnership coordination across the MWR Department.
Responsibilities
Perform supervisory duties: assign work, define priorities, recruit and hire, evaluate performance, recommend pay adjustments, approve leave, initiate corrective actions.
Authorize personnel actions and ensure accurate timekeeping.
Lead and instruct subordinates in workshops, clinics, and events across outdoor skills (camping, cycling, sailing, etc.).
Plan, promote, and implement diverse recreation programs, meeting CNIC approved standards.
Coordinate leisure activities and classes; serve as liaison with Training Support Center, Fleet & Family Readiness, and tenant commands.
Develop and maintain program business plans, budgets, and marketing initiatives.
Negotiate partnerships with on‑base and off‑base organizations, draft proposals, and manage agreements.
Ensure facilities and activities meet safety and sanitation guidelines; handle equipment checks, inventory, and sales reporting.
Analyze program performance, adjust operations, and report to leadership.
Assist with standard operating procedures and project oversight.
Requirements – Conditions of Employment
Meet federal employment suitability and background investigation requirements.
Pass E‑Verify and, if applicable, UNIDATA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process.
Pass pre‑employment examinations as required.
Hold a valid U.S. state driver’s license.
Accept direct deposit for salary payments.
Register with Selective Service (if applicable).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in customer service and activity‑based program leadership.
Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present to small and large groups.
Knowledge of recreational program planning, budgeting, and facility management.
Experience developing and sustaining partnerships, maintaining accurate databases, and publicizing events.
Valid state driver’s license to be acquired within 90 days of appointment.
Relocation No payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is authorized; relocation is funded by the employer.

Probationary period may apply.
Participation in direct deposit pay program.
