Summary and Purpose
Staples Alliance Church is seeking a godly man to serve as our Lead Pastor. We believe God has given each believer, including pastors, different gifts and abilities, personalities, and backgrounds. Many of these characteristics are essential to a ministry calling, while others are less critical, and still others are indifferent. We have prepared this profile as an outline of the desired characteristics for our Lead Pastor, recognizing that no one person will perfectly meet all of them. We are looking for the man God has called, and believe he should roughly, though not perfectly, meet the following desired profile.
Education
Seminary or graduate education in pastoral ministry or a Bible and Theology degree at an undergraduate level is desirable. Other education and life experience may be equally viewed
Credentialed and licensed by the Christian and Missionary Alliance (or working toward it/willing to work toward it)
Pastoral Experience
Experience is preferred
A demonstrated commitment to the spiritual growth and health of the local church
Ministry Strengths
Biblical Teaching/Preaching
Solid, biblically based teaching and preaching
Doctrinally sound, including a firm belief in the inerrancy and authority of Scripture
Personal and Spiritual Qualities
Genuine love for Jesus and His people
Godly risk‑taker
Man of prayer with a strong and growing personal relationship with God
Integrity and good reputation, setting a godly example
Approachable and available
Church Unity and Growth
Ability to manage conflict in a biblical manner
Good listener, good sense of humor
Fostering a supportive and cohesive church environment
Leadership and Ministry Development
Able to lead as well as to help others develop leadership skills
Confident in his faith, self‑assured but humble
Multi‑generational activities
Community Involvement and Teamwork
Involvement in community
Missions into the community
Family
If married, Lead Pastor’s wife is willing to participate in church life; she is free to use her gifts and abilities as she believes God is leading her, whether within or outside the local church
Lead Pastor’s wife and family must be comfortable living in a small town or out in the countryside
Talents, Abilities, and Interests
Visionary and innovative
Have a public presence in Staples and be supportive of multiple education models
Comfortable with media and media use, technical ability is an asset
Organized and able to manage administrative details
Free to use additional giftings in the church and community as they see fit
Empowers others to lead in their own giftings and ministry areas
Additional Requirement
The final candidate, his spouse and any adult‑age children living with them will undergo background checks. In addition, the successful candidate and his spouse will complete applicable safe child training prior to serving in any children’s ministries at Staples Alliance Church.
